Carbon Reduction Plan
Office for Contemporary Rural Architecture (OCRA)
1 January 2026
Commitment to achieving Net Zero
Office for Contemporary Rural Architecture is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, in line with UK Government targets and SME best practice.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline Year: 2024
2024 represents OCRA’s first full year of carbon measurement. Emissions were calculated in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol and UK Government conversion factors for company reporting. Scope 3 values are estimated based on activity data and industry benchmarks for SMEs.

Emissions Reduction Targets
To achieve Net Zero by 2050, OCRA has adopted the following targets:
- By 2025: -20% (≈2.8 tCO₂e) through renewable electricity, energy efficiency, and low-carbon travel.
- By 2030: -50% (≈1.75 tCO₂e) through supply chain engagement, EV adoption, and digitalisation.
- By 2050: -90–95% reduction, with residual emissions offset through verified removals.
Progress will be reviewed and reported annually.
Carbon Reduction Projects
Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives:
- Transition to 100% renewable electricity.
- Office energy optimisation: LED lighting, smart heating, power-down policy.
- Low-carbon travel policy: remote meetings first, rail preferred over car/air.
- Sustainable procurement: recycled and FSC-certified materials.
- Waste minimisation and improved recycling.
